Learning

I've been seriously working on improving my writing since 2008 when I knew there was something wrong. So, it's been a while. In July 2010 I did the 5DI experience and came away with so much enthusiasm and increased knowledge. I powered through for months, then stalled. In August 2011 I talked with publishers and had a bit of a rude awakening. By November I was dead in the water. I'd done all I could to my latest WIP and had no idea how to improve it. I knew how to change the POV but that wasn't what I wanted to do. I want to write my way, not change to suit a style.Over the last 2-3 months, my brain has shuffled. Things have started clicking into place. In March 2012, I could see how to vastly improve the November story. In November, I thought was pretty damn good. Now, I know it was crap, but it's better.

So what happened? How did my brain shift like that? Did learning/realising a few things mean that a whole wall in my head crumbled?

And the biggest question - has it really made a difference?
