Stone's Fall

Iain Pears is one of my favourite authors and last night I had to stay up very late to finish "Stone's Fall", which is a masterpiece! I'm usually good at picking the story but this one kept me hooked right until the last word. It was breath taking.

Three people telling the story in 1st person. Three men - all very different people, taking us on a journey to a different time and different experiences, each one shedding more light on a world of high finance, deviousness, and deep love.

There were some beautiful descriptions - of gazes locking for that first intimate moment of meeting a lover-to-be; of nerves; of terror; of dreams; of plans, huge plans. Oh, I loved it.

I wish I could write like that!
