2012 Idea

I'm a hopeless blogger. This blog has proven that to me. I have to admit I'm not a big fan of reading blogs either, so it's hardly a surprise. However, I had an idea for this year. In 2010 I tried to list the books I read - unsuccessfully I must say.

So this year I thought I'd try to write a few lines about the books I've read and enjoyed. Not a review as such...just a few words.

So my first one is a book I finished just before 2012 but I want to use it.

Ivo Stourton's The Book Lover's Tale.

I liked it but it took me a while to get into it. I love first person narratives. I loved some of his sentences - gorgeous descriptions, nice rhythm. The mind of Matthew (the Book Lover) is quite convoluted and amazing. I was fascinated by his thinking and logic (or illogic).

And one of the most incredible things about this book is that the guy who wrote it is young (not yet 30) and yet it seems it comes from a much older mind. Incredible writer. I must go find his first novel now.
