I went to a course on the weekend on Story. I had two moments of complete clarity.
STORIES ARE SIMPLE.
What I'm trying to write is not!!
You know when you have "What if...?" this happens, and "What if...?" that happens, and then I add another about 3 what ifs to make the story exciting... yeah, well...
You're allowed ONE "What if". Only ONE.
The story I worked on had at least 5, maybe even 8 or so by the time we got to 25%.
So, back to the drawing board. My simple one. The one I can't find for all the clutter I chuck on top!
