Bushfires - Be Prepared

Thursday 6 Oct 2016
First hot day yesterday and two bush/grass fires burned near me. This doesn't bode well for summer.

This bushfire is on the northern headland of Jervis Bay, which is a 40 minute drive from me. It's burned for 24 hours now, and almost 600 ha affected.

Are you prepared for bushfire? Do you have an evacuation plan? Do you know what to do if one comes close? Do you know what you need to grab in a hurry?

Have you checked out your local fire website for help?

Hi Catherine,

We've certainly had some hot weather and yep, once again we have to be on the lookout for bushfires. Hope you'll be and stay safe, there are always a lot of fires down your way. Xoxo

Hi Sue,
Yes, there are a lot of fires down this way. So far so good for us! When we moved here we bought a generator for fire emergencies. We turn it on regularly but luckily, so far, that's all we've had to use it for!

Hope we're all safe this summer. I hate fire season.
